EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW #164 September 30, 2020

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held 164th Express Entry draw on September 30.

Total 4,200 immigration candidates received invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency in this invitation round.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in this latest invitation round was 471 — a reduction of 1 point over the previous all-program draw held on September 16.

Federal Skilled Worker Program candidates were among those who received invitations in this draw.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers. It manages the profiles of candidates under three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.

A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

This invitation round saw the tie-breaking rule implemented on March 2, 2020 at 12:37:25 UTC. This means that all candidates with a CRS score of and above 471, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before the said date and time, received an ITA in this invitation round.

Canada has now issued over 78,350 ITAs to Express Entry candidates in 2020, which is well above the number of invitations that were issued at the same time in 2018 as well as 2017.

The large number of Invitations issued by IRCC in previous two draws is a strong sign that Canada remains committed to welcoming high levels of immigrants in the coming years.

Canada invited 3232 candidates to apply for permanent residence in the Canadian Experience Class-specific Express Entry draw held March 23, 2020

In its Second Express Entry draw in just five days, Canada invited 3,232 immigration candidates with Comprehensive Ranking Scores (CRS) as low as 467 to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
The March 23rd Express Entry draw is the second of its kind since 2015 that specifically targeted candidates in the Canadian Experience Class.

The Canadian Experience Class is one of three Federal High Skilled immigration programs managed by the Express Entry system. This immigration class is open to foreign nationals with a minimum one year of work experience in Canada, among other criteria.
The CRS cut-off score of 467 drawn in March 23rd draw was three points lower than the minimum cut-off threshold of this year in an all-program ExpressEntry draw, which was 470.
Immigration, Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) used a tie-break in the March 23 draw. The time stamp used was November 25, 2019, at 14:00:35 UTC that means all Canadian Experience Class candidates with a CRS score of and above 467, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in this invitation round.
With 3232 invites been sent in March 23 draw; IRCC has now issued a total of 22,600 ITAs this year through Canada’s Express Entry system.
Due to the strict travel restrictions imposed by the Federal Government to combat COVID-19 outbreak, there was a little uncertainty among immigration candidates to process their application with IRCC. However, recent draws conducted by the Government of Canada have made it quite clear that Canada is still inviting and approving permanent residence applications.
Considering Canada’s higher admission targets for its immigration programs in 2020 and 2021, it can be assumed that IRCC will hold more frequent and larger draws in the coming weeks and months.
